The sealing of rotary bearings with lubricating grease for raceway can prevent lubricant leakage on the one hand, and also prevent water, dust, and other impurities from entering when used outdoors. If the sealing is poor, the lubricating grease filling is insufficient or leaks, and the invasion of humid air and water can cause the rolling elements and raceway to rust and peel off; If dust and impurities enter the interior of the bearing, rolling can cause indentation on the rolling surface, increase the roughness of the bearing working surface, and thus shorten the bearing life; If harder impurities enter the interior of the shaft, they will grind against the raceway and rolling elements, causing wear on the bearing, increasing clearance, or scratching the working surface. The most commonly used seal is the sealing strip seal.
This type of seal is made by machining sealing grooves on the inner and outer rings of the bearing, and then adding sealing strips during assembly. This method can effectively prevent dust and impurities from entering the interior of the bearing, as well as prevent lubricant leakage. In certain special situations, using a labyrinth seal is more reliable.
Inspection content and countermeasures for seals:
(1) The seal is damaged and aged, and needs to be replaced.
(2) The seal is excessively stretched and falls off. Need to adjust or reinstall.
(3) The lip of the seal is worn. Seals that are aging or severely worn on the lips need to be replaced, and the lip area needs to be increased Lubrication.
(4) The contact state between the bearing and the sealing lip. Need to clean the contact area and eliminate the sharp edges of the friction area.
